Develop accounting technical knowledge in areas assigned during the internship programme.

Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Accountant in overseeing the P2P input for transactional processing by the finance team to the outsourced service provider.
- Assist the Chief Accountant with the P2P operational requirement of the Service Level Agreement for transactional processing, including the improvement of efficiencies.
- Ensure that suppliers added on the database are evaluated and accredited where possible.
- Liaise with suppliers to inform them of any unacceptable situations immediately if detected and agree on alternatives to minimize any adverse impact on Thales South Africa Systems.
- Assist purchasers with queries and advice on processes and the ERP System
- Liaise with suppliers to get statements and invoices.
- Reconciliation of accounts at month end and mid-month;
- Sending suppliers proof of payment / remittances as required;
- To maintain freight tax and duty and cell phones reports.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Accountant compile Standard Operational Procedures as guidelines for the monitoring of internal controls.
- Assist the Chief Accountant in identification and addressing of internal control deficiencies.
- Inventory (Finished Goods, Stock in Transit, WIP, Semi-Finished Goods, Obsolescence Reserve, Accruals, Production, Write-offs, Scrap, Item code creation & management),
- Inter-Company PPV Management
- Capex (CER Requests, Depreciation & Fixed Asset Register maintenance),
- Expenses & Cost Centres,
- COGS & Revenue file,
Assist Manufacturing Management Accountant to manage Product Costing: maintenance of standard costing system, revaluations, purchase price variance(Inter-Co & External),
- Monthly / regular stock takes with variance analysis,
Assist Manufacturing Management Accountant to perform variance analysis (Manex, Absorption, Production & Overheads – all against budget) with comments
Ad-hoc
- Finance projects as assigned in line with the internship developmental plan to be discuss with the incumbent.
Qualification
- Bachelor degree in Accounting Science
Experience
- up to six months admin experience.
- Good command of excel.
