The primary focus of the Intern is to learn and assist in compiling technical documentation of complex systems in a clear and accessible manner to specific end-users.

Location: Potchefstroom, North West

Technical Writing

  • Create clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation.
  • Develop user manuals, operation guides, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Adhere to company documentation standards and style guides.

  • Develop a solid understanding of the equipment and machinery being documented.

Research and Information Gathering

  • Conduct thorough research on equipment and machinery.
  • Collect and organize information from various sources, including engineers, product designers and existing documentation.

Illustrations and Diagrams

  • Collaborate with design teams to include technical illustrations and diagrams.
  • Create or edit visuals to enhance understanding of complex concepts.

Review and Editing

  • Review and revise documents for clarity, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Proofread content for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with engineers and other stakeholders to gather and clarify technical information.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on documentation improvements.

Documentation Management

  • Maintain and update documentation in an organised manner.
  • Use document management systems to track changes and manage document versions.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

  • BTech/BEng Mechanical or Industrial
  • Advanced literacy and competency in English.
  • Exceptional writing skills with a focus on clarity, conciseness and accuracy.

  • Advanced Literacy in MS Word.
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to understand complex technical concepts and systems.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ensuring accuracy and consistency.

  • Strong team collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of experts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate technical information into clear and understandable content for a non-technical end-user.
  • Experience in configuration management would be an advantage.
