Identifying operational continuous improvement initiatives, research, and analysis, as well as conducting risk assessments with the operational teams to resolve identified process safety initiatives and compliance.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO
- Provide technical data for process development and technology strategies.
- Work with technical assurance team to ensure that the Refinery has the latest standards for evaluation and use the best technic for the materials.
- Provides adequate troubleshooting within Refinery and Service Yard through checking trend analysis.
- Monitor the Refinery’s process efficiencies for gold, silver and raw material consumptions. Identify, initiate and execute improvement opportunities.
- Implements methods that enhance cost-saving initiatives (i.e., waste reduction, productivity and cost management).
- Collaborate with Evaluation Team and Process Engineers to evaluate sampling and processing capability for current and future feed materials.
- Maintain a global perspective of current refining process trends that could enhance efficiencies in the Refinery.
- Participate in SHE, RCFA and 5-why incident investigations when the need arises.
- Provide support in the development of models for data collection, profitability models, complete business cases and trade off study documents for information sharing with Senior and/or Junior Management, and Leadership Forums.
- Represent Refinery Management Team on technical projects, process improvements and business projects.
- Provide technical data to the Sourcing Department to formulate profitable contracts for processing at the Refinery.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- A completed Matric qualification.
- A Degree in Metallurgical/ Chemical Engineering.
- At least 2 years of work experience in a process improvement environment or which is related to it.
SKILLS/ COMPETENCIES
- Computer software proficiency – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and SAP. MS Projects exposure would serve as an advantage.
- Be familiar with SAP system – assist in metallurgical accounting and ensure that processes are rigorously followed.
- Good communication skills (written and oral) – ability to explain technical, financial and statistical information and instructions to others.
- Financial and numerical acumen – able to work with detailed numerical data.
- Negotiating skills – able to firmly but fairly negotiate with suppliers and customers at all levels, both locally and internationally.
- Report writing skills – able to produce reports that are timely, accurate, succinct and relevant.
KNOWLEDGE
- Risk Management knowledge – able to identify, manage and mitigate risks at source of the material and the supply chain involved.
- Process plant knowledge – good knowledge of processing plants, equipment, sampling and assaying. Familiarity with different materials processing and understand chemistry of materials and ease of processing.
- Project Management knowledge – assist Refinery Operations Manager to write business cases, and work with Projects Department to ensure process improvement projects are adhered to.
- SHERQ knowledge – be conversant with all the local and international statutory limits. Work with SHERQ and advise section on issues that in need be addressed from process improvement perspective.
