Role Overview

The Senior Manager, Climate Diplomacy will support Opportunity Green’s efforts to build international coalitions that promote climate justice and stronger climate action.

Working closely with policymakers, governments, civil society organisations, and climate-vulnerable countries, the successful candidate will help shape diplomatic strategies that influence international negotiations and drive meaningful policy change.

While a major focus of the role will involve aviation emissions and engagement with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the position will also contribute to broader climate diplomacy initiatives involving sectors such as maritime transport and agriculture.

The role reports directly to the Senior Director of Climate Diplomacy and is expected to provide leadership across the wider team.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be involved in a broad range of strategic and technical activities, including:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with government delegations and international policymakers.
  • Supporting climate-vulnerable countries during multilateral climate negotiations.
  • Developing policy briefings, technical reports, and advocacy materials.
  • Designing diplomatic strategies that increase climate ambition.
  • Representing Opportunity Green in international forums and stakeholder engagements.
  • Collaborating with legal, advocacy, analytics, and communications teams.
  • Supporting fundraising initiatives and donor engagement.
  • Providing leadership and mentoring within the Climate Diplomacy team.

Location and Working Arrangements

Opportunity Green is offering flexible working options for candidates in both the United Kingdom and Belgium.

United Kingdom

Applicants may be:

  • Based in London with a hybrid arrangement requiring two office days per week.
  • Based elsewhere in the UK and work remotely, provided they can travel to London for two consecutive days each month.

Belgium

Applicants may be:

  • Based in Brussels with a hybrid arrangement.
  • Based remotely elsewhere in Belgium, provided regular travel to Brussels is possible and occasional travel to London can be accommodated.

The organisation also offers a unique four-day full-time work week, running from Monday to Thursday.
