American Progress is hiring a Policy Analyst, Domestic Climate Policy to join its Energy and Environment department in Washington, D.C.

About the Role
The Policy Analyst will conduct research and analysis on energy and climate policy, with an opportunity to develop particular expertise in the power sector.
Key responsibilities will include conducting quantitative and qualitative research, analysing federal and state legislative proposals, monitoring administrative policies and regulatory developments, and providing research support to members of the Energy and Environment department.
The analyst will also collaborate with researchers, advocacy organisations, coalition partners and internal policy teams to advance policy priorities.
Writing will be a major component of the role. The successful candidate will contribute to reports, issue briefs, columns, fact sheets, social media content and other publications, while helping coordinate projects across different timelines.
The position will also involve representing American Progress in external meetings with Capitol Hill staff, coalition partners and media contacts.
Candidate Requirements
American Progress is seeking candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
At least three years of professional experience in energy and/or climate policy or a related field is preferred. A master’s degree may also be considered. The organisation notes that a combination of education, internships, activist experience and volunteer work may be taken into account.
Candidates should have knowledge of energy and climate issues and understand the legislative and administrative policymaking process.
Strong quantitative skills are important, including the ability to work with large datasets and understand graphs and charts.
