About the Role
The Communications Analyst will play a key role in strengthening visibility and outreach for UN Womenโs initiatives related to peace, humanitarian action, and sustainable development. Working under the guidance of the Programme Manager for Governance, Peace and Resilience, and directly supervised by the Project Coordination Analyst, the consultant will support communication planning, content creation, and media engagement for projects in Indonesia and beyond.
This consultancy is particularly linked to the โEmpowered Women for Sustainable Peaceโ initiative, known as the WE Nexus project. Supported by Korea International Cooperation Agency, the project aims to enhance community resilience and strengthen womenโs leadership in disaster risk reduction, humanitarian response, and peacebuilding. Through strategic communication, the Communications Analyst will help amplify stories, highlight results, and promote awareness of womenโs contributions to resilience-building efforts.
Key Responsibilities
The selected consultant will contribute to both strategic and operational communication functions. One of the primary duties includes supporting the planning and design of external communication strategies and outreach campaigns. These strategies will be integrated into project communication plans to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with UN Womenโs corporate communication standards.
The consultant will also monitor print and digital media, analyze communication performance, and provide recommendations to improve outreach effectiveness. Technical input will be required for events such as conferences, exhibitions, campaigns, and high-level meetings, ensuring that communication efforts align with organizational objectives.
Another important aspect of the role involves developing presentations and communication materials for stakeholders such as donors, governments, and partners. The Communications Analyst will also attend relevant meetings and coordinate the production of communication products, including press releases, briefing notes, feature stories, and knowledge materials.
Media and Digital Engagement
Media engagement forms a central part of the consultancy. The Communications Analyst will help build and maintain relationships with media partners, support responses to public information requests, and assist in organizing press briefings and media roundtables. Additionally, the consultant will draft talking points for senior UN Women staff and ensure consistent messaging during public engagements. ๐ฐ
Digital communication responsibilities include coordinating website content updates and managing social media platforms in line with corporate policies. The consultant will help enhance online presence, develop compelling storytelling, and ensure that project achievements are effectively communicated to global audiences.
Flexible Home-Based Work Arrangement
This consultancy is fully remote, requiring approximately 15 working days per month. The flexible arrangement allows professionals to contribute from any location while maintaining collaboration with UN Women teams. Monthly reports summarizing outputs and deliverables must be submitted to track progress and ensure accountability. ๐ป
Competencies and Skills
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong communication and advocacy skills, along with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders. Sensitivity to gender issues and commitment to inclusive collaboration are essential. The role also requires creativity, analytical thinking, and the ability to develop strategic communication approaches.
Technical knowledge of web-based content management systems, social media platforms, graphic production standards, and digital storytelling is highly valued. Candidates with experience in gender equality, human rights advocacy, and international development communication will have a competitive advantage.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must hold a masterโs degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field. A bachelorโs degree combined with additional relevant experience may also be considered. Candidates should have at least five years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or advocacy at national or international levels.
