Role Purpose

The Digital Campaign Trainee supports the execution and optimization of digital advertising campaigns. Working under the guidance of ad operations and campaign management specialists, the trainee assists in ensuring campaigns are delivered efficiently, creatively, and in line with business objectives. The role focuses on maximizing advertising effectiveness, managing campaign operations, and ensuring timely delivery of digital marketing initiatives.

Trainees will also help coordinate campaigns, manage assigned accounts, and support reporting processes. This end-to-end exposure ensures participants gain a comprehensive understanding of digital campaign management and performance optimization.

What Trainees Will Learn

Participants in this programme will gain practical experience across multiple advertising platforms, including tools used for social media marketing, programmatic advertising, and analytics. The trainee will learn campaign management fundamentals across platforms such as Meta, TikTok, Google Ads, Google Analytics, and Google Ad Manager.

The role includes supporting retail media campaigns for suppliers advertising on Checkers Sixty60, as well as working on major group brands including Checkers and Shoprite. This exposure offers insight into how large-scale retail campaigns are conceptualized, executed, and measured.

Trainees will assist in generating reports using sales-rich data, learn to build dashboards through Looker Studio, and monitor live campaigns to understand optimization strategies. They will also conduct research to identify trends and insights that can improve campaign performance.

Additional responsibilities include managing day-to-day platform tasks for sponsored products, ensuring invoice accuracy, monitoring budgets, and coordinating with stakeholders. These duties provide exposure to both operational and strategic aspects of digital marketing.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must hold a degree or diploma in Marketing, Advertising, Media, or a related field. While prior experience is not mandatory, exposure to digital advertising environments or analytics-driven marketing is advantageous. Familiarity with advertising tools such as Google Ads, DV360, or Facebook Ad Manager is also beneficial.

Applicants should demonstrate understanding of marketing principles, customer journeys, and content development. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, as trainees will work with data, reports, and presentations throughout the internship.
