About the Learnership

The Contact Centre Learner programme is a 12-month work-based learning opportunity designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical workplace experience. Successful candidates will participate in classroom-based learning sessions combined with on-the-job training in a professional contact centre environment.

Upon successful completion, learners will receive an Occupational Certificate: Health Care Benefits Advisor (NQF Level 5), SAQA ID 105030. While the learnership does not guarantee permanent employment, it provides valuable industry experience and improves employability within the medical aid administration and insurance sectors.

The programme is scheduled to run from 01 June 2026 to 31 May 2027. Participants will be required to commute daily to the workplace located near Parc Du Cap in Bellville.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Contact Centre Learner Learnership, candidates must have completed Grade 12 (Matric). Applicants must have achieved at least 40% in Mathematics or 60% in Mathematical Literacy. Additionally, candidates must have passed English and another South African language with a minimum of 50%.

Applicants must be unemployed and able to commit fully to the 12-month programme. Computer literacy is considered an advantage. Candidates must also be South African citizens between the ages of 18 and 30.

Further requirements include being able to commute independently to the Bellville office and not being enrolled in any tertiary studies during the learnership period. Candidates who have previously completed the same learnership are not eligible to apply.

Applicants are required to submit certified copies of their Matric certificate and identity document, not older than three months. People living with disabilities are encouraged to apply and must include a doctor’s letter confirming the disability.

Learning and Development Responsibilities

Learners will actively participate in classroom sessions and practical workplace training. They will be expected to develop a strong understanding of company products, policies, and operational procedures.

Participants will compile a portfolio of evidence aligned with learnership requirements and maintain detailed logbooks documenting their work-based learning experience. They will also complete formative and summative assessments to demonstrate competency.

Learners will gain experience using company systems, understanding operational workflows, and supporting client service functions.

Client Service Exposure

The programme places strong emphasis on customer service skills. Learners will assist in managing client queries and building professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Participants will learn how to adhere to service level agreements, provide recommendations to improve service delivery, and contribute to a culture focused on client satisfaction. The role also includes monitoring turnaround times, resolving issues efficiently, and supporting service delivery goals.

Workplace and Team Development

Learners will collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment. They will be encouraged to develop industry-specific knowledge and support organisational change initiatives.

The programme promotes innovation, productivity, and quality management. Participants will also be responsible for driving their own professional growth and demonstrating organisational values consistently.

Financial and Risk Awareness

As part of the learnership, participants will be exposed to financial and operational considerations. This includes identifying cost-effective solutions, supporting risk identification processes, and ensuring compliance with company policies and governance standards.

Learners will also escalate unresolved issues appropriately and contribute to maintaining operational efficiency.

Required Competencies

Ideal candidates should demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure. Good communication skills and problem-solving ability are essential for success in the contact centre environment.

Applicants should be client-centric, collaborative, and results-driven. Self-management and the ability to think quickly when handling queries will also be valuable attributes.
