Internship Disciplines
PUTCO’s graduate internship program spans several key areas, providing opportunities for graduates with diverse academic backgrounds:
- Operations/Traffic: Interns will gain hands-on experience in managing daily transport operations, monitoring route efficiency, and supporting scheduling and compliance initiatives.
- Accounts: Candidates in this department will assist with financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and other essential accounting processes.
- Human Resources: Interns will learn about employee relations, recruitment, training, and HR administration, providing insight into the company’s workforce management practices.
- Technical (Mechanical Engineering): Graduates in this area will participate in vehicle maintenance, fleet management, and technical problem-solving, applying engineering principles to real-world transport challenges.
- Procurement/Stores: This stream offers experience in supply chain management, inventory control, vendor liaison, and procurement processes critical to the smooth operation of the business.
Locations
The internship positions are based across three strategic locations to expose interns to varied operational environments: Soweto, Pretoria, and Linbro Park. This geographic spread allows candidates to experience urban and peri-urban transport systems and gain a well-rounded understanding of PUTCO’s operational footprint.
Internship Benefits
While the primary objective of this program is skills development, PUTCO ensures that interns receive basic support during their tenure. The internship offers a monthly stipend of R500 and 15 days of annual leave, providing a balance between professional exposure and personal well-being.
