The role is based in Cape Town and follows a hybrid working model, combining remote work with in-person collaboration. Role Overview

The Renewable Energy Graduate will join the Engineering Centre of Excellence (ECoE), supporting engineering and project development activities. The role provides exposure to multiple technologies, including wind, solar, and battery storage systems.

Working under experienced engineers and supported by a global network of experts, the successful candidate will contribute to energy yield assessments, project design, modelling, and early-stage development work. This makes the position ideal for graduates aiming to build technical capability while understanding the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

Project Development Support
The graduate will assist development teams with environmental approvals, project appeals, site selection, and project sizing. The role also includes participation in site visits, field activities, and consolidation of GIS and project data.

Energy Yield Assessment
The position involves supporting the technical assessment of wind and solar resource data. The graduate will help with prospecting activities and contribute to wind and solar monitoring campaigns.

Design and Feasibility
The candidate will assist with preliminary layout designs for renewable energy facilities. They will also contribute to feasibility assessments and technical risk analysis for new projects.

Data Analysis and Modelling
The role includes supporting data management, tracking, and analysis. The graduate will assist with energy modelling activities, including battery energy storage systems, and help prepare technical presentations.

Administration and Bid Support
The successful candidate will also provide administrative assistance for bid preparation and contract documentation, alongside ad-hoc technical tasks as required. 📊

Qualifications and Experience

The opportunity is targeted at recent graduates with minimal professional experience. Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Engineering, or related degree. Candidates with 0–1 year of experience are encouraged to apply.

Additional requirements include:

  • Willingness to travel for site visits and project activities
  • Strong interest in renewable energy engineering

Technical skills such as coding, CAD design, data analysis, and advanced Excel are advantageous. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools is also beneficial.
