With its headquarters in East London, the agency is inviting qualified and motivated professionals to apply for a range of permanent positions, contributing to impactful projects that enhance rural communities, strengthen organizational capacity, and drive sustainable development.

Systems/Database Administrator

The ECRDA seeks a Systems/Database Administrator to maintain the stability, security, and efficiency of its IT infrastructure. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or IT, with an Honours degree considered advantageous. The ideal candidate should have 6–8 years of experience, including 3–5 years in systems and data administration, and possess a Code 08 driver’s license.

Manager: Supply Chain Management

This role is crucial in overseeing the agency’s procurement, distribution, and supply chain operations. The Supply Chain Management Manager ensures efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of goods and services. Applicants should have a BCom Honours in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Management, with a Master’s degree preferred. Candidates must bring at least 10 years of experience, including supervisory and managerial roles in SCM.

Finance and Accounting Roles

ECRDA is offering multiple finance positions:

  • Senior Accountant: Revenue & Expenditure – Responsible for accurate management and reporting of income and expenditure, requiring a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with 8 years of relevant experience. Professional certifications such as CA, CIMA, or SAIPA are an advantage.
  • Financial Accountant: Accounting & Reporting – Handles financial reporting and compliance, requiring 5–7 years’ experience and a relevant accounting qualification.
  • Management Accountant – Provides strategic financial analysis, planning, and reporting to support decision-making and resource management.

Additionally, Senior Asset Management Officer roles are available to oversee and optimize organizational assets, ensuring maximum value and risk mitigation.

Forestry and Rural Development

The Project Officer: Forestry Development supports sustainable forest management, biodiversity conservation, and community-based natural resource initiatives. Applicants must hold a National Diploma or BSc in Forestry or Agroforestry, with over 8 years of experience in forestry and rural development. Strong knowledge of community forestry models and stakeholder engagement is essential.

Regional Leadership and OHS Roles

ECRDA is also recruiting Regional Directors to implement strategic initiatives and identify development opportunities across Umtata, Queenstown, and Cradock. Candidates require an Honours degree in Development Studies, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Public Administration, or Business Management, with 10 years of professional experience.

The OHS, Health & Safety & Security Specialist ensures a safe and secure working environment, overseeing occupational health and safety programs. Applicants should hold a degree in Environmental Health or OHS Management, with 8 years of experience in OHS practices.

Communications and Management Opportunities

The Manager: Communication Services will develop and implement strategic communication initiatives to enhance ECRDA’s reputation and stakeholder engagement. Candidates should have an Honours degree in Marketing or Communication and at least 10 years of professional experience, including management experience.

The Communication Officer supports internal and external communication strategies, requiring 5–7 years of experience and a National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Communication or Marketing.


All positions require a Code 08 driver’s license and preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate relevant qualifications, experience, and a commitment to rural development.
