The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a skilled Graphic Designer to join its team as an International Consultant supporting operations in Port-au-Prince. This home-based consultancy offers an opportunity for experienced design professionals to contribute to humanitarian communications and visual storytelling initiatives while working remotely.

Role Overview

The Graphic Designer Consultant will work under the overall supervision of the Head of the Programme Support Unit and the direct supervision of the Media and Communication Officer. The consultant will also collaborate closely with the Communications Unit in Haiti, as well as the Media and Communications Divisions at the regional office in Panama and headquarters.

The primary objective of the role is to support the conceptualization, layout, and design of internal and external communication materials. These assets will help strengthen visibility, ensure brand consistency, and effectively communicate complex humanitarian information to diverse audiences.

This position offers the flexibility of remote work while maintaining close collaboration with global teams. It is particularly suited for professionals with strong technical design capabilities and experience in institutional communications.

Key Responsibilities

The selected consultant will be responsible for a broad range of design and communication tasks. One of the core duties involves designing and developing reports and institutional documents from concept to final layout. These materials must maintain clarity, visual consistency, and alignment with organizational branding guidelines.

The consultant will also develop templates and standardized formats that ensure consistent communication across teams. These templates will support various projects and improve efficiency in producing branded communication materials.

In addition, the role includes creating social media assets such as static posts, carousels, banners, headers, and animations where applicable. These assets will be optimized for multiple platforms to enhance digital engagement and outreach.

Another critical responsibility involves developing infographics and data visualizations. The consultant will translate complex data into visually compelling formats that improve accessibility and understanding for diverse audiences.

Promotional materials such as flyers, posters, brochures, banners, and presentations will also form part of the consultantโ€™s deliverables. All outputs must adhere to the organizationโ€™s visual identity, including typography, color palette, iconography, and style guidelines.

The consultant will collaborate with program managers and communication teams to ensure alignment between messaging and visual design. Maintaining an organized archive of design files and staying up to date with design trends are also expected components of the role.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates applying for this consultancy must meet specific educational and professional requirements. Applicants should possess either a masterโ€™s degree in graphic design, branding, or a related field with four years of relevant experience, or a university degree in the same fields with at least seven years of relevant experience.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong experience in graphic design, layout development, and branding. Excellent drafting and editing skills are also essential, along with proficiency in online communication and social media design.

Applicants should have experience working in demanding environments and managing multiple competing priorities. The ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines is crucial, particularly in complex and rapidly changing contexts.

Strong interpersonal skills are required, as the role involves collaboration with colleagues from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity are also important attributes.

Knowledge of international agencies, particularly organizations within the United Nations system, is considered an advantage.

Language Requirements

Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this role. Working knowledge of French is desirable and will strengthen a candidateโ€™s application, especially given the operational context in Haiti.
