The Deutsche Gesellschaft fรผr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is inviting motivated graduates to apply for entry-level traineeships in support of Nepalโ€™s health sector and gender equality initiatives for 2026. These traineeships are part of GIZโ€™s Support to the Health Sector Strategy II (S2HSS II) and Support to Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (S2GESI) projects, implemented in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and supported by the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of Germany.

This programme offers a six-month traineeship from 15 April 2026 to 15 October 2026, providing young professionals with hands-on experience in public health management, gender equality mainstreaming, and municipal-level program implementation.

๐ŸŒ Locations and Trainee Positions

GIZ Nepal is offering six traineeships across different municipalities in Lumbini and Sudurpachim provinces. Successful applicants will be based at one of the partner municipality offices:

  • Panchadewal Binayak Municipality, Achham โ€“ 1 trainee
  • Triveni Municipality, Bajura โ€“ 1 trainee
  • Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City, Banke โ€“ 1 trainee
  • Alital Rural Municipality, Dadeldhura โ€“ 1 trainee
  • Bijayanagar Rural Municipality, Kapilvastu โ€“ 1 trainee
  • Jhimruk Rural Municipality, Pyuthan โ€“ 1 trainee

Each trainee will report to the Provincial Coordinator of the GIZ Health Project, working closely with municipal health units and local authorities.

๐ŸŽฏ Responsibilities

Trainees will support the health sector and gender equality initiatives through a wide range of activities, including:

  • Assisting municipal health units with evidence-based management and implementation of basic health services and GESI (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) activities.
  • Coordinating with the provincial GIZ team to plan and organize trainings, workshops, and meetings in the municipalities.
  • Supporting monthly, quarterly, and biannual meetings, including taking minutes and assisting in reporting processes.
  • Contributing to the 7-step health sector planning process to ensure inclusive participation of women, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups.
  • Assisting in preparing, training, and coaching municipal staff for the Digital Health Management Information System (HMIS) register and other digitalization initiatives.
  • Participating in field visits to health facilities with GIZ advisors and municipal staff when required.
  • Supporting the documentation of lessons learned, event reports, and other knowledge management products.

This exposure allows trainees to gain practical experience in local health governance, digital tools for healthcare, and social inclusion practices in public service delivery.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Public Health, Healthcare Management, or Nursing from an accredited university.
  • Experience: 0โ€“1 year; this is an entry-level traineeship suitable for recent graduates.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
    • Proficiency in English and Nepali, both written and spoken.
    • Competence in MS Office, internet, and email.
    • Willingness to travel to remote areas in Lumbini and Sudurpachim provinces.
