CIFOR-ICRAF Seeks GLFx Chapter Africa Hub Officer to Advance Sustainable Landscapes in Africa
The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) are calling on passionate, experienced professionals to join their mission as the GLFx Chapter Africa Hub Officer. This home-based consultancy position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to shaping locally-led solutions for Africaโs landscape restoration, sustainable development, and climate resilience initiatives.
About CIFOR-ICRAF
CIFOR and ICRAF are globally recognized non-profit research institutions committed to improving lives through the sustainable management of forests and trees. With over 65 years of combined experience, they have generated extensive knowledge on agroforestry and the use of trees in agricultural landscapes. By leveraging multidisciplinary research, evidence-based policy engagement, and strong stakeholder collaboration, CIFOR-ICRAF addresses pressing global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and energy insecurity. Both institutions are part of the CGIAR consortium, a global partnership dedicated to ending hunger, reducing poverty, and improving natural resource management.
The Global Landscapes Forum and GLFx
The Global Landscapes Forum (GLF), launched in 2013 by CIFOR-ICRAF with partners including UNEP and the World Bank, has grown to become the worldโs largest knowledge-led platform for sustainable landscape solutions. GLF connects governments, civil society, researchers, private sector actors, and local communities to advance ecosystem restoration, sustainable land management, and nature-based solutions.
Within this ecosystem, GLFx, established in 2020, serves as a network for organized communities and local organizations responding to climate change, biodiversity decline, and social inequities. Across Africa, the GLFx network has expanded to more than 30 chapters in 17 countries, each representing unique ecosystems, cultural contexts, and locally-driven restoration and conservation strategies. These chapters benefit from networking opportunities, access to funding, capacity-building programs, and global visibility through GLFโs platforms.
