Apply for the UNDP Student Ambassador Programme in Korea: Cohort 4 Applications Now Open

The UNDP Student Ambassador Programme Korea Cohort 4 invites students worldwide to promote sustainable development, build leadership skills, and engage with UN career pathways from February to August 2026.

UNDP Student Ambassador Programme Korea Cohort 4: Empowering the Next Generation of Global Leaders

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has opened applications for Student Ambassador Programme – Korea Cohort 4, a global youth engagement initiative designed to empower students to champion sustainable development and promote UNDP’s mission, values, and career opportunities.

Running from February to August 2026, the programme will select up to 400 students from as many as 30 countries, representing more than 100 universities worldwide. Selected participants will serve as UNDP Student Ambassadors, acting as bridges between UNDP and their academic communities while gaining valuable leadership, communication, and advocacy experience.

About the UNDP Student Ambassador Programme

The UNDP Student Ambassador Programme provides a structured platform for students to actively engage with global development issues aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Rather than functioning as an internship, the programme focuses on leadership, advocacy, and peer engagement, enabling students to amplify UNDP’s work while developing professional skills.

Ambassadors play a key role in encouraging dialogue around global challenges such as inequality, climate change, access to education, decent work, gender equality, and inclusive growth. Through campus outreach and digital engagement, they inspire fellow students to explore careers in international development and contribute meaningfully to global solutions.

Programme Vision and Objectives

The programme encourages young people to reflect critically on the future they want for their communities and countries. UNDP Student Ambassadors act as connectors—linking academic spaces with real-world development practice and global policy conversations.

By engaging students at the university level, UNDP aims to strengthen youth participation in development discourse while cultivating a pipeline of future professionals committed to people, prosperity, and the planet.

Who Should Apply

UNDP is seeking motivated students with a strong interest in sustainable development and youth leadership. Ideal candidates include:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate students
  • Individuals passionate about social impact and global development
  • Students interested in communication, storytelling, and social media engagement
  • Applicants fluent in English
  • Students eager to represent UNDP for one academic semester

Experience in the following areas is considered an added advantage:

  • Event planning and campus engagement
  • Public speaking or facilitation
  • Digital content creation
  • Community organizing or student leadership roles

Roles and Responsibilities

Student Ambassadors commit approximately two hours per week and participate in a range of outreach, advocacy, and learning activities.

Promoting UNDP as an Employer of Choice

Ambassadors raise awareness of UNDP’s mandate, values, and career pathways by sharing information about internships, fellowships, and professional opportunities with peers and faculty members.

Engagement and Outreach

Participants organize or support career fairs, workshops, and information sessions, collaborate with student organizations, and integrate SDG-related discussions into campus activities.

Communication and Digital Advocacy

Ambassadors share UNDP news, campaigns, and resources through social media and university platforms. They also create content—such as posts, photos, videos, and short features—highlighting UNDP’s impact and development work.

Networking and Representation

The programme provides opportunities to connect with universities, student groups, and local communities. Ambassadors may also participate in UNDP events and represent student perspectives by providing feedback to UNDP teams.

Capacity Building

Participants attend online trainings and workshops organized by UNDP, deepen their understanding of global development issues, and share acquired knowledge with peers.

What Participants Gain

Through the programme, Student Ambassadors benefit from:

  • Membership in a global network of youth leaders passionate about sustainable development
  • Professional exposure to UNDP and the wider UN system
  • Networking opportunities with UNDP staff and development practitioners
  • Access to online learning resources and leadership training
  • Enhanced communication, advocacy, and public speaking skills
  • Stronger personal branding and an improved CV
  • A Certificate of Completion upon successful participation
  • Potential pathways to future UN and international development opportunities

Programme Impact

Previous cohorts demonstrate the programme’s growing global influence:

  • Over 600 ambassadors from more than 100 universities across 25 countries
  • Increased student-led SDG campaigns and campus events
  • Strong collaboration with UNDP Country Offices
  • Meaningful contributions to UNDP’s youth engagement and employer branding strategies
  • High levels of peer inspiration and local impact driven by student leadership

Korea Cohort 4 will continue to build on this momentum by expanding youth participation and amplifying student voices in global development conversations.

Application Process

Interested candidates are required to:

  1. Submit a resume
  2. Provide a short cover letter outlining motivation and relevant experience
  3. Apply through the designated local UNDP focal point

Successful applicants will join a transformative global learning journey and contribute to shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Why Apply

The UNDP Student Ambassador Programme is a unique leadership and advocacy opportunity that allows students to act as change-makers within their communities, gain real-world exposure to international development, and inspire peers to engage with the SDGs.

For students interested in global issues, youth leadership, and UN career pathways, Korea Cohort 4 offers a meaningful entry point into the world of sustainable development and international cooperation.
