About the Fellowship
UNICEF’s Leading Minds Fellowship is designed for young climate leaders aged 10–30 who are already driving meaningful climate education efforts across schools, communities, and countries.
The programme supports youth who are rethinking how climate learning should look — whether inside classrooms, through governmental partnerships, across digital platforms, or within community-led initiatives.
Each selected fellow becomes part of a powerful global network committed to strengthening climate literacy and empowering children to engage with environmental challenges through knowledge, creativity, and advocacy.
Funding & Benefits: Fueling Impactful Change
Selected fellows receive up to USD $20,000 in grant support, along with comprehensive professional development opportunities. UNICEF ensures each young leader has the tools, visibility, and mentorship they need to scale their climate education “Bright Spots.”

Who Can Apply?
UNICEF seeks young leaders aged 10–30 who are:
- Already leading or representing a climate education initiative
- Passionate about climate action and climate literacy
- Able to commit 4–5 hours weekly from February 2026 to July 2027
- Comfortable communicating in English (other UN languages are an advantage)
Whether they are students, community organisers, young professionals, or activists, applicants should be genuinely committed to helping children and youth better understand and act on the climate crisis.
