Position Overview: Driving Climate and Methane Mitigation Research
The Climate Policy Research Assistant will play a key role in advancing CCAP’s global initiatives on methane reduction, organic waste management, and climate finance. This position supports research, analysis, report writing, and event coordination for international climate programs.
Working closely with CCAP experts, the Research Assistant will contribute to impactful work across topics such as:
- Methane mitigation frameworks and policies
- Organic waste sector transformation
- Circular economy practices in developing countries
- Climate finance instruments and blended finance mechanisms
- Short-lived climate pollutants (SLCP) strategies
This role gives the successful candidate exposure to high-level policymakers, financial institutions, and international organizations, all while developing deep expertise in climate policy and finance.
Key Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will support CCAP’s global climate efforts through a wide range of tasks, including:
1. Research & Analysis
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative research on developing-country climate policies.
- Analyze methane mitigation initiatives and organic waste management frameworks.
- Examine climate finance instruments, market barriers, and investment opportunities.
2. Writing & Policy Development
- Prepare policy briefs, reports, issue notes, and best-practice case studies.
- Support proposal development and contribute to CCAP blogs and publications.
3. Stakeholder Engagement
- Interact with international policymakers, consultants, and technical experts.
- Support communication with financial institutions and climate project partners.
4. Event & Conference Support
- Assist in organizing international workshops and webinars.
- Prepare presentations, concept notes, and logistical materials.
- Manage databases and virtual event platforms.

Organic Waste Management in Small Island Developing States (SIDS)
Supporting countries in the Caribbean and Pacific regions to implement methane-reduction strategies aligned with the Global Methane Pledge.
Circular Economy and Waste-to-Resource Programs
Researching best practices in waste regulations and developing strategies to enhance circularity and reduce emissions.
Climate Finance for Organic Waste Projects
Analyzing climate finance mechanisms, blended finance approaches, and market barriers in emerging economies.
International Methane Policy Frameworks
Synthesizing global methane reduction efforts and developing workshop materials for international policy dialogues.
Qualifications
This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals with a strong passion for climate policy, research, and global environmental issues. CCAP seeks candidates who can learn quickly, work independently, and manage multiple responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in environmental policy, international relations, economics, climate science, or related fields.
- Coursework or experience in environmental and climate policy.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Experience with quantitative analysis, ROI assessments, or cost-benefit analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience or coursework related to methane mitigation, waste management, circular economy, or climate finance.
- Fluency or proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, or French.
- Familiarity with international climate policy frameworks.
Contract Duration and Compensation
