Fully Funded Cabin Crew Training Bursary Opens Doors for Gauteng Youth in Aviation

Flyfofa Aviation Training, in partnership with the National Skills Fund and DHET, offers a fully funded Cabin Crew Training bursary for Gauteng youth, covering training, accommodation, and a monthly stipend.

A Life-Changing Opportunity for Aspiring Aviation Professionals

Flyfofa Aviation Training, in collaboration with the National Skills Fund (NSF) and South Africa’s Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), has launched a fully funded Initial Cabin Crew Training bursary aimed at empowering young people from Gauteng Province. This initiative forms part of a broader national effort to develop scarce skills, create employment pathways, and increase youth participation in the aviation sector.

The bursary removes many of the financial barriers that typically prevent talented young people from accessing specialised aviation training. By covering the full cost of training, accommodation, and providing a monthly stipend, the programme ensures that selected candidates can focus entirely on their studies and professional development.

About the Training Programme

The Cabin Crew bursary is structured as a 12-week, full-time training programme designed to prepare candidates for entry-level roles as cabin crew members in the aviation industry. The training is delivered by Flyfofa Aviation Training, a recognised aviation training organisation with experience in developing industry-ready professionals.

In addition to the Initial Cabin Crew Training stream, the same bursary initiative also supports a second stream: the Drone Pilot or Remote Pilot Certificate programme. While both streams are fully funded, applicants must apply using the correct programme-specific codes.

For candidates interested in becoming cabin crew, the relevant application code is BCCT2026. This code must be used during the online application process to ensure the application is considered for the correct training stream.

Who the Programme Is Designed For

This bursary is specifically targeted at youth from Gauteng Province, with a strong focus on inclusivity and support for learners from disadvantaged backgrounds. The eligibility requirements reflect this focus, prioritising applicants who have completed their schooling in under-resourced communities or who have been supported through social grants.

To qualify, all applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be between 18 and 23 years old at the time of application
  • Currently reside in the Gauteng Province
  • Have matriculated in Gauteng at a Quintile 1, 2, or 3 school only, or be a recipient of the SASSA Child Support Grant
  • Have achieved at least Level 5 in English in their Grade 12 results
  • Be willing to undergo and pass an aviation medical examination

In addition to these general requirements, candidates applying specifically for the Cabin Crew Training must meet certain physical criteria aligned with industry standards. These include a minimum height of 1.6 metres and a body mass index (BMI) not exceeding 24.5 kg/m².

What the Bursary Covers

One of the most significant advantages of this programme is its comprehensive funding model. Successful applicants receive:

  • Full tuition for the 12-week Initial Cabin Crew Training programme
  • Accommodation for the duration of the training
  • A monthly stipend to assist with living expenses

This holistic support structure allows participants to train in a stable and focused environment, without the pressure of financial strain.

How the Application Process Works

Applications for the 2026 intake are submitted online through Flyfofa Aviation Training’s official website. Interested candidates must complete the online application form and upload all required supporting documents.

Applicants are required to submit:

  • A certified copy of a valid South African ID
  • Proof of residence confirming Gauteng residency
  • A copy of the Grade 12 (matric) certificate
  • A school Quintile Verification letter
  • Proof of SASSA Child Support Grant receipt, where applicable

When completing the application, candidates must ensure they select the correct programme and enter the appropriate application code. For Initial Cabin Crew Training, the correct code is BCCT2026.

Important Dates to Remember

The closing date for applications for the 2026 intake is 15 January 2026 at midnight. Late or incomplete applications are unlikely to be considered, making it essential for applicants to prepare their documents and submit well before the deadline.

Building Pathways into Aviation

This bursary represents more than just a training opportunity; it is a gateway into one of the world’s most dynamic industries. By partnering with NSF and DHET, Flyfofa Aviation Training is contributing to national skills development goals while offering young people a chance to build sustainable careers.

For Gauteng youth with a passion for aviation, customer service, and travel, the fully funded Initial Cabin Crew Training bursary offers a rare and valuable opportunity to take flight—both professionally and personally.
