With applications for the UPG Sustainability Leadership Class of 2026 officially opening on 1 September 2025, a new generation of leaders is invited to step forward.

What Is the UPG Sustainability Leadership Programme?

The UPG Sustainability Leadership Programme is a transformative global initiative designed to train, mentor, and support young leaders who are passionate about sustainability. The programme blends online learning, community-based action, and real-world leadership experiences to help participants drive measurable impact.

At its heart, the programme believes that ordinary citizens can create extraordinary change — and that sustainability becomes achievable when individuals are equipped with the right tools, knowledge, and global network.

Who Can Apply?

The programme is open to young adults aged 18–35, from every world region. Unlike traditional leadership programmes, UPG does not require academic or professional experience. Instead, selection is based on:

  • Passion for sustainability
  • Commitment to community upliftment
  • Willingness to take action
  • A genuine drive to make positive change

UPG believes that sustainability is not just the responsibility of experts—it is the shared duty of all global citizens.

Why Apply? Key Benefits of the Programme

This global opportunity offers far more than training. Successful applicants become part of an international ecosystem of change-makers and gain access to:

1. FREE World-Class Sustainability Training

Participants receive structured and comprehensive training from global sustainability experts. The training covers environmental stewardship, social impact, leadership development, project design, community engagement, and ethical leadership.

2. A Global Network of Leaders

UPG connects thousands of young leaders from around the world, enabling collaboration, cultural exchange, and collective action.

3. An All-Expenses-Paid Week in the USA

A select group of participants will be invited for a fully funded 1-week immersive experience in the United States. This unique opportunity brings together top performers for intensive leadership development, hands-on community work, peer engagement, and exposure to sustainability innovators.

4. Certification as a UPG Sustainability Leader

Upon completion of the programme, participants receive international certification, opening doors to partnerships, scholarships, funding, and leadership opportunities.

Your Commitment as a UPG Sustainability Leader

UPG nurtures leaders who take real action. After certification, each leader commits to:

1. Implementing a Sustainability Project

Whether addressing waste, food security, education, or climate resilience, graduates must design and implement at least one community project.

2. Organising Mini-Training Sessions

Certified leaders are expected to share knowledge and empower others by hosting local training sessions.

Together, these actions create a ripple effect of impact—multiplying the reach of UPG’s global sustainability mission.
