UNICEF is recruiting a remote Strategic Initiatives Sports Consultant to support global fundraising, partnerships, and marketing across the sports sector. Learn more about the role, responsibilities, and how to apply.

UNICEF Opens Applications for Remote Strategic Initiatives Sports Consultant

UNICEF, a globally respected champion for children’s rights, has announced a unique opportunity for a remote, home-based Strategic Initiatives Sports Consultant. This 12-month consultancy supports the organization’s expanding engagement with the global sports and entertainment industry through its new initiative, Every Play for Every Child.

This role is designed for an accomplished professional who thrives at the intersection of marketing, partnerships, and fundraising—and who is driven by the mission to improve the lives of children across more than 190 countries.

UNICEF: A Commitment to Every Child

For decades, UNICEF has dedicated itself to saving lives, protecting rights, and enabling the potential of children from early childhood through adolescence. The organization’s staff often describe their work not as a job but as a calling—one where purpose, passion, and global impact intersect.

Through private fundraising and partnerships, UNICEF is deepening its engagement with the entertainment and sports sectors to unlock new avenues for unrestricted funding and global visibility. The Strategic Initiatives Sports Consultant plays a pivotal role in this evolution.

The Purpose of the Assignment

The consultant will support UNICEF’s Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) Division in shaping global fundraising and marketing strategies within the sports industry.

At the heart of this assignment is the development and execution of a comprehensive global marketing campaign under UNICEF’s entertainment-platform initiative: Every Play for Every Child.

This consultancy is uniquely positioned to bridge creative storytelling, global partnerships, and impactful fundraising—ensuring that UNICEF’s sports-related initiatives generate visibility and financial support to advance children’s rights worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Corporate Alliances Manager, the consultant will lead an ambitious portfolio of activities, including:

1. Strategy & Industry Development

  • Designing UNICEF’s global sports offering and fundraising strategy
  • Establishing operational processes for industry engagement
  • Identifying opportunities for corporate, philanthropic, and individual giving

2. Global Campaign Leadership

  • Overseeing the rollout of a global marketing campaign targeting both B2B and B2C audiences
  • Managing agencies, campaign assets, and international launches
  • Building localized activation tools for UNICEF National Committees around the world

3. Partnership Pipeline & Fundraising

  • Developing new fundraising mechanisms tailored for sports donors and partners
  • Strengthening relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and major sporting events
  • Contributing to high-level partnership negotiations and strategic activations

4. Capacity Building

  • Supporting markets in fundraising efforts
  • Hosting workshops, coordinating working groups, and ensuring knowledge transfer

5. Monitoring, Reporting & Planning

  • Preparing KPIs, OKRs, reports, and presentations
  • Leading 2027 planning and budget recommendations
  • Documenting lessons learned and producing case studies

This work requires exceptional strategic planning abilities, strong project management, and the ability to coordinate diverse stakeholders across multiple regions.

Deliverables & Timelines

The consultancy includes 12 monthly phases, each with measurable outputs—from drafting business cases and analyzing sponsors to orchestrating global campaign launches and capturing impact data.

Key expected results include:

  • Monthly fundraising business case drafts
  • Continuous stakeholder engagement support
  • Global campaign activations
  • Research for sponsor analysis
  • Case studies, lessons learned, and 2027 planning frameworks
  • KPI collection and reporting

All deliverables must be completed to UNICEF’s quality standards, with payment issued upon approval.

Work Arrangement & Travel

This consultancy is fully remote, offering flexibility while still engaging a global network. Travel may be requested for events, launches, or partnership engagements; any related expenses will be covered according to UNICEF’s travel policy.

Consultants must have valid medical insurance, be BSAFE certified, and meet relevant administrative requirements.
