As part of its mission to build internal capacity and strengthen technical excellence, the Eskom Distribution Division is inviting applications for two Graduate in Training positions within its Asset Creation Department, based in Polokwane under the Limlanga Cluster.

This internship offers aspiring professionals in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics, or Surveying a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in land development processes, geographic data systems, and spatial analysis—skills critical to national infrastructure planning and energy distribution.


About the Programme

The Graduate in Training opportunity is designed for candidates who have completed their undergraduate degrees and are seeking structured workplace exposure. Selected graduates will participate in a comprehensive development journey across various land development sections, working alongside seasoned professionals and subject matter experts.

  • Provide administrative support for Geographic Information Systems
  • Maintain and update GIS and related spatial systems

2. Monitoring and Assessment

  • Regularly assess the condition and functionality of mapping equipment
  • Monitor software used for spatial and land-development applications

3. Spatial Data Support

  • Assist in providing spatial datasets to internal stakeholders
  • Offer technical support related to geographic mapping

These responsibilities ensure graduates gain balanced exposure to both systems-based and on-site technical work.


Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the role, applicants must meet the following academic criteria:

Required Qualification

  • BSc / B Degree / BTech Degree in one of the following fields:
    • Geographic Information Systems
    • Geomatics
    • Surveying
  • NQF Level 7 with 360 credits

Experience

  • No prior work experience required
    This makes the programme ideal for new graduates seeking first-time workplace exposure.
