Chulalongkorn University’s Office of Academic Resources (OAR) has officially opened applications for the Chula-Global Library Visiting Fellowship Program 2026—a unique two-month residency in Bangkok designed to deepen international collaboration in librarianship, information science, archival studies, and Southeast Asian scholarship.
This prestigious fellowship welcomes scholars and library professionals from around the world to join a dynamic academic community and contribute to meaningful joint projects, research outputs, and knowledge exchange.
A Fellowship Strengthening Global Knowledge Exchange
The Chula-Global Library Visiting Fellowship is rooted in Chulalongkorn University’s commitment to global academic engagement. The program aims to:
- Promote cross-cultural professional exchange
- Foster collaborative innovation in academic resource management
- Increase global awareness and use of Thai and Southeast Asian research collections
- Support co-authored research and impactful scholarly contributions
Through collaboration with OAR staff, selected Fellows gain access to rich research collections, professional expertise, and a vibrant intellectual environment.
Program Structure: Two Distinct Fellowship Tracks
The 2026 program offers one fellowship position in either of two pathways, each tailored to different professional backgrounds and research objectives.
Track 1: Professional Practice Fellowship
Designed for library and information professionals with at least three years of experience, this track focuses on hands-on innovation and service development. Fellows collaborate with Chulalongkorn University staff on short projects related to:
- Digital preservation and curation
- Research data management
- Archives and records management
- Scholarly communication and library services for underrepresented cultures
- Library and digital repository management
- Data visualization or machine-learning applications in cultural institutions
The emphasis is on practical outcomes that enrich library operations and support community needs.
Track 2: Research Fellowship for Scholars
This track is open to scholars holding terminal degrees with a strong publication record in:
- Thai Studies
- Southeast Asian Studies
- Related interdisciplinary fields
Fellows under this track develop a co-authored academic paper or short research study using OAR’s extensive collections, including the Thailand and ASEAN Information Center. The collaboration aims to advance original scholarship and contribute to the global academic discourse on Southeast Asia.
Program Duration and Key Dates
The fellowship spans two months, with applicants able to choose one of the following periods:
- May 1 – June 30, 2026
- June 1 – July 31, 2026
Application Timeline
- Application Deadline: December 31, 2025 (23:59 Thailand Time)
- Interview Announcement: January 16, 2026
- Interviews (via Zoom): January 26 – February 13, 2026
- Final Results: February 27, 2026

Eligibility Requirements
The fellowship is open to non-Thai citizens who are currently employed by reputable universities or institutions. Applicants must also demonstrate:
- Strong English proficiency
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments
- Approval from their home institutions
- Availability for the full duration of the program
Each track has its own additional eligibility requirements related to experience or academic background.
Program Expectations
Selected Fellows are required to:
1. Complete a Collaborative Project or Research Output
They will work directly with OAR staff, jointly developing a professional project or co-authored research paper. The resulting work may later be shared or published with proper acknowledgment.
2. Deliver a Public Presentation
Fellows present their project or research to Chulalongkorn University’s academic community, contributing to institutional learning and professional development.
3. Submit a Final Project Report
A summary of outcomes and activities must be submitted by the final day of the fellowship.
Financial Support
The program provides a stipend of 230,000 THB, subject to a 15% withholding tax, intended to support:
- Visa fees
- Airfare
- Accommodation
- Travel and health insurance
- Other program-related expenses
Payment Schedule
- First installment: Upon arrival and completion of administrative procedures
- Second installment: After submission of required deliverables and final report
Applicants must be prepared to cover their own pre-arrival costs before the first installment is issued.

All application documents must be in English, submitted in PDF format, and not exceed 10 MB per file.

- Project Proposal (2,000–5,000 words) outlining objectives, methodology, expected outcomes, and timeline
- Institutional Permission Letter confirming employment and authorizing participation
Proposed work must be original and independent—not part of a degree program or under review elsewhere.
Additional Program Information
Fellows are responsible for:
- Applying for a Non-Immigrant Visa Category B
- Preparing documents for a work permit application
- Bringing their own laptop and software tools
- Reporting to OAR with required documents for administrative processing
