💼 The Role: Assistant Research Manager

The Assistant Research Manager (ARM) serves as a bridge between ACLED’s field researchers, data analysts, and management teams. This position ensures that conflict event data from multiple regions is verified, standardized, and aligned with ACLED’s rigorous methodological standards.

As a key member of the research team, the ARM supports regional data desks, manages review processes, and contributes to analytical outputs that help explain trends in political violence and unrest worldwide.

  • Participating in training sessions focused on data cleaning, review, and coding.

  • Managing and organizing regional data files, actor lists, and documentation for internal reference.

  • Incorporating feedback from research managers into ongoing coding and data review work.
  • Supporting the preparation of analytical reports and other research outputs.
  • Assisting in managing regional desks and occasionally stepping in for Research Managers when needed.
