The Division of Climate and Technology Partnerships (IET/CTP), under the Directorate of SDG Innovation and Economic Transformation, plays a vital role in developing innovative climate solutions and fostering partnerships aligned with the Paris Agreement’s commitments. The division focuses on identifying promising climate initiatives, designing impact-oriented projects, and facilitating collaboration among governments, industry, and international partners to support net-zero industrial development.
Project Context
In response to the global climate challenge, UNIDO has established mechanisms to leverage carbon markets and promote industrial decarbonization. Key activities include building trust and credibility in carbon offset projects, enhancing the capacity of developing countries to participate in carbon markets, and positioning UNIDO as a central actor within the UN system for carbon market coordination. These efforts aim to foster sustainable, low-carbon industrial growth, mitigate climate change, and support countries in meeting their climate commitments.
Key Responsibilities
The Project Administrator will be instrumental in supporting the implementation of these initiatives. Under the supervision of the Division Chief and working closely with project teams, the successful candidate will:
- Gather and analyze background information relevant to climate and industrial development projects.
- Draft project documents, including background and justification sections.
- Coordinate logistical arrangements and monitor project activities to ensure timely execution.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues affecting project progress.
- Assist in revising project budgets and work plans as needed.
- Support the organization of workshops, seminars, and stakeholder engagement activities.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should hold an advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in engineering, sciences, economics, business administration, international relations, or a related field with a fundamental understanding of carbon markets. A minimum of three years of relevant work experience is required, with a preference for those familiar with development challenges in emerging countries.
Proficiency in English is essential, and knowledge of additional UN languages is advantageous. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong research and analytical skills, a commitment to integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity.
