The Role: Project Coordinator
This full-time, fixed-term position based in Beirut places a dedicated professional at the heart of a dynamic project focused on child protection and livelihoods enhancement. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for leading the day-to-day management, coordination, and implementation of project activities, ensuring they are delivered efficiently and in accordance with donor requirements and organizational standards.
Role Purpose
The primary objective of the Project Coordinator is to oversee the smooth execution of project activities related to child protection and livelihoods, working closely with local partners, field teams, and external stakeholders. The Coordinator will ensure that all outputs are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while maintaining high standards of quality and safeguarding. They will monitor progress against the logical framework, ensuring alignment with project goals and donor expectations.
Key Responsibilities and Dimensions
- Project Oversight and Implementation: Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all project components, including child protection, livelihoods, and cash-based interventions. Ensure activities are aligned with the detailed work plan and technical proposal.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the main liaison between Plan International Lebanon, implementing partners, and external stakeholders such as donors and community representatives. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Track progress against project indicators and milestones, providing regular updates and detailed reports to management and donors. Ensure compliance with reporting standards and documentation requirements.
- Financial Management: Oversee project budgets, monitor expenditure, and support financial reporting. Work closely with finance and grants teams to manage re-phasing, re-alignment, and ensure financial accountability in a fast-paced environment.
- Risk Management and Safeguarding: Identify potential risks to project delivery and implement mitigation strategies. Uphold safeguarding standards to protect vulnerable populations involved in the project.
- Coordination with Support Functions: Collaborate with internal teams such as Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E), Operations, Finance, and Grants to ensure seamless support for project activities.
- Local and Community-Level Engagement: Foster strong relationships with local community groups, government agencies, and other stakeholders to promote community ownership and sustainability of project outcomes.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in project management, particularly within the fields of child protection and livelihoods, and demonstrate excellent coordination, communication, and organizational skills. A minimum of three years of relevant experience in similar roles, preferably in Lebanon or the region, is essential. The candidate must be adept at managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, with proven financial management ability and experience working with diverse stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related fields.
- Proven experience in managing development or humanitarian projects, with a focus on child protection and livelihoods.
- Strong understanding of the local context in Lebanon, including social, political, and economic factors affecting vulnerable populations.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate cross-sectoral activities.
- Proficiency in project management tools and financial systems.
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required; French or other regional languages are a plus.
