The Role of the Remote Teacher of English
This position offers a unique chance for experienced English teachers to contribute to a significant educational initiative in Latin America. The Remote Teacher of English will be responsible for delivering engaging, effective online lessons to primary school students aged approximately 9 to 11 years old in Uruguay as part of the Ceibal en Inglés program.
The successful candidate will deliver synchronous classes from the British Council’s remote teaching hub in Buenos Aires, working closely with classroom teachers and supporting asynchronous activities through digital platforms to enhance student learning.
Main Responsibilities
- Lesson Planning and Delivery: Prepare and deliver high-quality English lessons that meet the standards set by the British Council and partner programs. Tailor lessons to accommodate diverse learning styles and ensure active engagement.
- Student Monitoring and Feedback: Track student progress, provide regular feedback, and promote learner autonomy. Feedback via the CREA platform should be completed at least 24 hours before each lesson.
- Adaptability: Adjust teaching approaches as needed during the academic year, responding to client requirements and program updates.
- Professional Development: Engage actively in ongoing training and performance reviews to ensure teaching remains aligned with the latest ELT best practices and British Council standards.
- Relationship Building: Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and classroom teachers, contributing to a supportive learning environment.
- Promotion and Safeguarding: Support local marketing efforts and uphold safeguarding, child protection, equality, diversity, inclusion, and health and safety policies.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should meet the following criteria:
- At least 2 years of post-certification teaching experience (e.g., CELTA, Trinity Cert TESOL, or equivalent TESOL qualification with practicum).
- Experience teaching primary students (ages 6-10), lower secondary students (ages 11-14), university or vocational students, or adult learners.
- High proficiency in English (C1 level or above).
- A university degree in Education, ELT, or a related field.
- Desirable but not essential: Delta modules or advanced certifications.
Additional Requirements
Applicants must upload their academic transcripts or relevant certification when applying. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in Argentina to be eligible for this onsite role in Buenos Aires’ Retiro district.
