Plan International is Hiring for a Project Specialist: Apply Now

Introduction to Plan International

Plan International is a globally recognized independent organization dedicated to advancing children’s rights and promoting equality for girls. With over 85 years of experience, the organization works tirelessly to create a just world where every child, especially girls, can realize their full potential. Recognizing that poverty, violence, exclusion, and discrimination often hinder this potential, Plan International partners with children, young people, supporters, and communities to address the root causes of these challenges.

In Egypt, since 1981, Plan International has been actively implementing programs across ten governorates, including Cairo, Alexandria, Giza, and others. The country strategy focuses on empowering marginalized children and their families, fostering sustainable community development, and advocating for policy changes that uphold children’s rights.

Recognizing the critical importance of targeted gender-specific actions, SWEET adopts a rights-based, gender-transformative approach to foster social and economic empowerment.

The project seeks to expand women’s knowledge and understanding of their industry, elevate their social status, and equip them with relevant skills. It also focuses on strengthening governance systems and building business linkages—creating an enabling environment that supports women’s enterprise development. By doing so, SWEET aims to foster a supportive social fabric and institutional framework that sustains women and girls’ economic independence and social agency.
