The Role: Project Assistant – UNHCR Livelihood
This full-time, fixed-term position is based in Alexandria, Egypt, and reports directly to the Project Coordinator. The Project Assistant will be a vital link between the project’s target beneficiaries, local partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders. Their primary responsibility is to support the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of livelihood activities aligned with the project’s goals and the broader country strategy.
The role emphasizes hands-on management of community-based interventions that aim to enhance access to sustainable livelihood opportunities, including vocational training, coaching, mentorship, and facilitating connections with employers and marketplaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Programmatic Supervision: Assist in overseeing the implementation of project activities at the partner level, ensuring alignment with the detailed implementation plan and quality standards.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Support the collection and analysis of data related to project progress, preparing reports that reflect the achievements and challenges encountered.
- Partnership Management: Maintain strong relationships with local government bodies, NGOs, community groups, and other relevant partners, fostering collaboration and ensuring cohesive delivery of services.
- Beneficiary Engagement: Serve as a critical link between the project and the target communities, ensuring their needs and feedback are integrated into project activities.
- Activity Coordination: Facilitate skills-building workshops, vocational training sessions, and mentorship programs, ensuring activities are executed smoothly and efficiently.
- Support to M&E: Assist in monitoring and evaluation efforts, tracking indicators, and ensuring activities meet agreed-upon standards and objectives.
- Documentation & Communication: Maintain accurate records of project activities, successes, and lessons learned, contributing to internal and external communications.
Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A relevant bachelor’s degree in development studies, social sciences, or related fields.
- Proven experience (preferably 2-3 years) working on livelihood, community development, or similar projects, ideally within Egypt or the broader region.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate across different stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills in Arabic and English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation tools and practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and sustain partnerships at local levels.
