IMF is Hiring for Multiple Technical Assistance Advisors (Multiple Positions)
The International Monetary Fund (IMF), a cornerstone of the global financial stability framework, is currently seeking highly qualified professionals for two contractual positions as Technical Assistance (TA) Advisors within its Fiscal Affairs Department. Based in Washington, D.C., these full-time roles are part of the Public Financial Management 1 Division (FADM1) and are pivotal in supporting IMF member countries’ efforts to strengthen their public financial management systems.

Key Responsibilities and Scope of Work
The successful TA Advisors will play a fundamental role in providing technical guidance and capacity-building support in critical PFM areas. Their responsibilities include:
- Leading and actively participating in capacity development activities related to their expertise, such as fiscal frameworks, budget processes, public investment, fiscal risk management, and digitalization of public finances.
- Coordinating and overseeing the technical content delivered by IMF’s regional centers and assigned long-term experts working within various countries.
- Designing and managing multi-year capacity development projects, including active oversight of project activities, contracting short-term experts, and monitoring progress.
- Developing proposals for donor funding and preparing periodic reports on project outcomes.
- Contributing to the IMF’s analytical research on core and emerging global PFM themes, including the development of technical guidance notes and tools.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Candidates should possess:
- An advanced university degree or equivalent in economics, finance, or accounting.
- A minimum of four years of relevant professional experience, with preference for candidates with at least ten years in senior advisory roles within ministries of finance, international financial institutions, or development agencies.
- Extensive, first-hand knowledge of public financial management practices across different countries.
- Experience delivering capacity development initiatives and managing projects effectively.
In addition to technical expertise, applicants must demonstrate:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in French, Russian, or Arabic is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior officials and development partners.
- A comprehensive understanding of IMF policies and operational procedures.
