Entry Level Job: GIZ Kenya is Hiring for an Administrative Intern 

Supporting Sustainable Development through Private Sector Engagement

The Agency for Business and Economic Development (AWE), part of the broader support network under the Cooperation with the Private Sector Partners in Transformation (PiT), is seeking motivated and dynamic individuals to join their team in Nairobi. Position Overview: Supporting AWE’s Strategic Initiatives

This position is primarily focused on providing administrative, communication, and knowledge management support to the AWE Kenya team. The successful candidate will assist with logistical arrangements for events, support financial processes, contribute to communication activities, and help with data collection and documentation. The role is designed to support the smooth operation of AWE’s programs and initiatives, ensuring effective engagement with partners, stakeholders, and the broader development community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administration, Finance & Logistics Support:
    Assisting with the preparation of vouchers, ensuring all materials are correct, and supporting logistical arrangements for events and workshops. This includes participant registration, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes. The intern will also support procurement activities, processing invoices, and maintaining project files systematically.
  • Communication, Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E):
    Supporting in drafting articles, success stories, and participant invitations related to AWE activities. Assisting with data collection for partner account management and developing presentations, info sheets, or briefing notes that align with AWE’s operational procedures. Additionally, representing the Partners in Transformation Desk at events and marketplaces under supervision.
  • General Duties:
    Undertaking any other tasks assigned by the AWE Kenya lead, contributing to the overall success of the program and team.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education:
    Recent graduates (not longer than 1 year) who have completed or are pursuing a graduate course in Business, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Language Skills:
    Fluency in both English and Swahili is essential, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Additional Competencies:
  • Strong ICT skills, especially in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to communicate effectively across diverse cultural environments.
  • Flexibility, willingness to learn, and adaptability.
  • Experience in writing articles or success stories is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize urgent tasks, and work independently, including remotely when needed.
