Call for Expressions of Interest: FAO Internship Programme for Africa

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has announced an exciting opportunity for aspiring young professionals across Africa through its Internship Programme for Africa (RAF). This call invites motivated individuals to submit their expressions of interest for internships that will span various locations across the continent, offering invaluable practical experience aligned with FAO’s mission to eradicate hunger and promote sustainable agriculture.

A Gateway to Contributing to Global Goals

FAO’s internship initiative is designed to attract talented young women and men eager to bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and recent academic knowledge to the organization’s diverse areas of work. Interns will have the chance to complement their academic background with hands-on experience, contributing meaningfully to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and FAO’s Strategic Framework. The programme supports efforts toward transforming food systems into more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable entities—ultimately aiming for better production, nutrition, environmental health, and quality of life for all, with a special emphasis on leaving no one behind.

Program Details and Expectations

Starting from March 2025, selected interns will be assigned to various departments within FAO, based on their profiles and the organization’s needs. The internship durations range from three to eleven months, providing flexible opportunities for continuous learning and engagement.

Interns will report to designated supervisors and undertake responsibilities outlined in tailored Terms of Reference (TOR). Tasks are expected to align with the intern’s academic background and field of interest, offering a practical platform to develop professional skills in a multicultural international environment.
