Role Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Chief of Staff and in close collaboration with the Senior Adviser on Women’s Leadership, the Project Manager Consultant will be responsible for overseeing the management of the UN Women Leaders Network. This role is crucial for strengthening UN Women’s position on women’s leadership globally. The key areas of focus and deliverables are:
- Establishment and Management of the Permanent UN Women Leaders Network: Building upon previous initiatives, the consultant will manage the creation and ongoing operations of a permanent network chaired by the Executive Director. This involves ensuring the network is integrated into UN Women’s work and aligned with its strategic goals.
- Mobilization of 100 Intergenerational Women Leaders: The consultant will be responsible for identifying, reaching out to, and securing the participation of 100 diverse women leaders from various sectors to join the network.
- Organization of Network Convenings and Partnership Management: The consultant will plan and execute regular meetings and events for the network members. They will also manage strategic partnerships and donor relationships with other organizations and networks working to advance women’s leadership.
Description of Responsibilities / Scope of Work:

- Creating various communication materials related to the network and UN Women’s work on women’s leadership, such as press releases, website content, speeches, talking points, articles, and social media posts.
- Event management of global virtual and in-person outreach and engagement events under the umbrella of the UN Women Leaders Network:
- Planning and executing events to engage the network members and promote UN Women’s work on women’s leadership, including events related to the Generation Equality initiative.
- Organizing regular meetings and gatherings for all network members.
- Managing meetings with partners related to the network.
- Management of strategic partnerships and donor relations:
- Cultivating and maintaining relationships with key partners, including women leaders, UN Member States, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), foundations, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Identifying and engaging with new and potential partners.
- Managing reporting requirements for donors and overseeing the project budget.
- Knowledge Management:
- Developing and producing knowledge products related to women’s leadership, such as policy documents, presentations, reports, research papers, briefing notes, and other relevant materials.
- Managing and maintaining a database of contacts for the UN Women Leaders Network.
