Remote Opportunity: UNFPA is Hiring for a Junior Project Coordination Consultant (Home-based)

In an era where gender equality and women’s empowerment are central to sustainable development, the private sector has a critical role to play. Recognizing this, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has launched a groundbreaking initiative: the Coalition for Reproductive Justice in Business. This multi-stakeholder platform brings together over 25 organizations—including corporations, international agencies, academia, and civil society—to mainstream sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) within corporate strategies and operations.

The Coalition aims to foster increased investments in SRHR, generate compelling evidence to support workplace programs, and embed SRHR considerations into corporate reporting frameworks. Since its inception in January 2025, the Coalition has begun mobilizing organizations committed to implementing reproductive health policies and programs in their workplaces and supply chains—setting the stage for transformative change across industries.

Supporting a Global Movement from Afar and In-Person

To further its objectives, UNFPA’s Private Sector and Civil Society Branch is seeking a Junior Project Coordination Consultant to bolster the Coalition’s operational and strategic outreach efforts. This role offers a flexible work arrangement, either remotely or based in New York, USA, depending on mutual agreement.

Key Responsibilities and Impact

The consultant will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of the Coalition, facilitating engagement among members and champions, and expanding its reach. This includes developing and executing a calendar of events, coordinating meetings, and supporting the creation of knowledge products that showcase the Coalition’s work to new audiences.

A core focus will be on outreach—identifying and engaging new private sector partners and champions, conducting light research on potential members, and reviewing partnership requests to ensure alignment with the Coalition’s goals. The consultant will also support research projects, helping generate data-driven knowledge products such as factsheets, case studies, and presentations that articulate the value of SRHR in the workplace.

Ensuring the Coalition’s impact is tracked and reported is another key task. The consultant will collate impact data from members, prepare briefing notes for global events, and support logistics for high-level meetings and advocacy initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

Ideal candidates are equipped with a Master’s degree in fields such as International Relations, Gender Studies, Public Relations, or related disciplines. They bring at least two years of experience in project management, private sector engagement, or coalition-building, with a good grasp of corporate social responsibility and client relationship management.

Proficiency in Excel, data management, and clear communication skills are essential. Experience working with marketing industries or in dynamic, start-up environments will be considered assets. Fluency in English is required, with additional UN languages viewed favorably.
