About the Role
The consultant will serve as a vital link in ensuring the smooth operational functioning of WPHF activities within Afghanistan. Reporting directly to the GIHA Programme Manager and working closely with the WPHF Secretariat, grantees, and key stakeholders, this position encompasses a wide array of responsibilities—from administrative and financial support to coordination, monitoring, and capacity building.
What Will the Consultant Do?
Administrative and Financial Support:
The consultant will assist with logistical arrangements for WPHF activities, manage partnership documentation, and oversee compliance with UN Women policies. They will also track grants, prepare financial reports, and liaise with grantees to ensure timely disbursement and accountability.
Coordination and Liaison:
Acting as a bridge between implementing partners and UN Women, the consultant will organize meetings (virtual and in-person), draft minutes, and follow up on action points. Maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders at both national and sub-national levels will be key to facilitating effective program implementation.
Technical Assistance & Capacity Building:
Providing technical support to partners, the consultant will help implement program activities, identify opportunities for capacity enhancement, and facilitate trainings on monitoring, reporting, and other relevant topics.
Monitoring & Reporting:
Data collection and analysis form an essential part of this role. The consultant will assist in monitoring progress, preparing reports, and tracking performance indicators to ensure the program’s objectives are met efficiently.
The Unique Aspect of the Role
While primarily home-based, the consultant will undertake an initial four-week mission to Kabul, establishing in-person connections with stakeholders, onboarding, and administrative setup. Future travel opportunities may arise based on project needs.
Who Should Apply?
Candidates should possess a Master’s degree in social sciences, gender studies, international development, or a related field, complemented by at least two years of relevant experience in project implementation, coordination, or evaluation. Experience in gender equality within humanitarian contexts, especially in conflict zones like Afghanistan, is highly desirable.
Fluency in English is mandatory, with knowledge of Dari or Pashtu considered an asset. A project management certification would be advantageous, reflecting a commitment to best practices in programming.
