These positions are offered on a full-time or part-time basis and follow a hybrid work model, combining remote work with in-person engagement.

Job Summary
The Community Outreach & Events Specialist plays a vital role in advancing MedGlobal’s mission by planning and executing outreach initiatives and events that increase organizational visibility, foster community engagement, and support fundraising efforts. This role involves building relationships with community stakeholders, organizing impactful events, and actively promoting MedGlobal’s work within local and regional networks.
Reporting directly to the Community Engagement & Partnerships Director, each specialist will contribute to strengthening MedGlobal’s presence in Chicago and beyond, ensuring that outreach efforts resonate with diverse populations and potential supporters.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Community Outreach:
- Organize and participate in community activities to educate the public about MedGlobal’s work and impact.
- Represent MedGlobal at local meetings, community events, and networking opportunities to raise awareness and foster relationships.
- Identify, cultivate, and engage potential donors, sponsors, and partners within the community to support MedGlobal’s initiatives.
- Develop and nurture partnerships with local organizations, businesses, educational institutions, faith groups, and other stakeholders committed to health equity and humanitarian causes.
Event Planning and Coordination:
- Lead the planning and execution of fundraising galas, community engagement events, and donor appreciation activities from inception to completion.
- Collaborate with the development team to create sponsorship packages, marketing materials, and promotional campaigns for upcoming events.
- Manage all logistical aspects of events, including venue selection, program development, budgeting, and volunteer coordination.
- Develop detailed event plans, timelines, agendas, and budgets, ensuring smooth operation and adherence to organizational standards.
- Maintain accurate records of event outcomes, attendance, and financial performance, and generate post-event reports.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to support event activities and outreach efforts.
- Support ongoing marketing initiatives through social media, email campaigns, and other communication channels to maximize event reach and engagement.
Qualifications & Skills
- A bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field is preferred.
- At least five years of experience in outreach, community engagement, or fundraising, with a minimum of one year in team management or supervisory roles.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with diverse groups and individuals.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with donor management or CRM software.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the capacity to motivate and manage volunteers, staff, and community partners.
- A genuine passion for MedGlobal’s humanitarian mission and principles.
- Experience working with faith-based giving initiatives, particularly within Muslim communities, is highly desirable.
Additional Information
- The position is based in Chicago, Illinois, with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities for events and outreach activities.
- Some travel within Illinois and possibly other states may be required.
