The Internship Role: Social Media Intern

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate in brainstorming creative ideas for social media messages, campaigns, and content themes that resonate with young audiences.
- Develop bi-weekly content calendars for UNCT social media accounts, including Facebook and Instagram.
- Generate engaging content—such as videos, photos, and posts—tailored to the platform and target audience.
- Map social media influencers in the region to explore partnership opportunities, aiming to collaborate with at least one influencer in 2025 to promote UN Nepal’s priorities.
- Analyze social media performance through bi-weekly reports, capturing trends, audience feedback, and engagement metrics.
- Maintain a repository of multimedia content, including audio-visual materials and graphics.
- Monitor content performance and coordinate with the NIO to respond promptly to questions or comments from followers.
- Engage actively with the Facebook and Instagram community, fostering meaningful conversations within UN social media guidelines.
- Contribute to the development of social media strategy, voice, and overall communication vision.
- Conduct qualitative analyses to identify themes and issues raised by the public on social media platforms.
- Support other duties related to social media and communications as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
Candidates should be enrolled in or have recently completed a graduate program (second university degree or higher) or be in the final year of a bachelor’s degree. Preference is given to applicants pursuing studies related to Media and Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or Social Sciences. Languages
Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is essential. Knowledge of French is desirable, and additional UN official languages (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) are an advantage.
