UNDP’s Digital Strategy
Digital technology is a key driver of change in the 21st century. The UNDP has embarked on an ambitious digital transformation journey since 2019, implementing the UNDP Digital Strategy 2022-2025. Our vision aims to harness digital technology as an empowering force for people and the planet, addressing development challenges with innovative solutions.
The Chief Digital Office (CDO) leads this transformative effort, working to integrate digital technology into development projects and collaborating with government partners to build inclusive digital ecosystems.
Internship Overview
The internship will provide opportunities to work in a variety of areas related to digital transformation. Interns can support efforts in shaping inclusive digital ecosystems, building capacity in government offices, advancing UNDP’s Digital Strategy, and facilitating change management initiatives. The position is designed to accommodate both part-time and full-time interns, with start dates that are flexible to fit individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
Interns will engage in a variety of meaningful tasks, including but not limited to:
1. Digital Transformation: Inclusive Digital Ecosystems
- Assist in developing rights-based local digital ecosystems.
- Support the implementation of secure and equitable digital public infrastructure.
- Conduct primary research on topics like digital inclusion, AI ethics, and inclusive connectivity.
- Help manage knowledge sharing by disseminating thought pieces and collaborating with other UNDP units.
- Create accessible communication materials, including social media content and blogs.
2. Country Office Support & Capacity Building
- Assess digital and AI readiness in various countries.
- Aid in the development of national data strategies and governance frameworks.
- Design a digital skills program for UNDP personnel.
- Provide support for program initiatives around AI and its implications.
3. UNDP Digital Strategy Development & Implementation
- Contribute to thought leadership and research on key digital topics.
- Manage content for UNDP’s digital guides webpage.
- Assist the Chief Digital Officer with internal and external engagements, drafting speeches, and reports.
- Analyze the progress of various digital initiatives to improve methodology and processes.
4. Business Operations and Strategic Communications
- Support operations in completing various workstreams, tracking progress, and reporting bottlenecks.
- Assist in drafting materials for partnership development and strategic communications outreach.
- Help manage UNDP’s engagement in global processes, including drafting statements, and aiding in event organization.
5. Product Design and Management
- Assist in the design and improvement of digital products, including applications and platforms.
- Support proposal writing for new digital products aligned with thematic teams.
- Conduct user testing, ensuring that digital solutions meet user needs effectively.
6. Change Management and Capacity Development
- Support the management of UNDP Communities of Practice.
- Track and analyze progress on digital transformation initiatives.
- Contribute to internal communications and maintain a knowledge database.

Required Skills and Experience
Educational Requirements: Candidates must meet one of the following:
- Enrolled in or have graduated from a graduate school program (second university degree or higher).
- In the final academic year of a bachelor’s degree program (minimum bachelor’s level).
- Graduated from a university degree program within the last year.
Skills and Experience:
- Interest or experience in digital transformation topics, governance, equity, and social impact.
- Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Familiarity with database management and office management is a plus.

Benefits and Stipend
