Nature Cultural Fellowship 2025: A Transformative Journey towards Environmental and Cultural Resilience
The Nature Cultural Fellowship (NCF) is an innovative Kinship program created in collaboration with the Global Youth Biodiversity Network. This unique fellowship offers participants a chance to embark on a transformative journey aimed at rekindling our deep connection with nature, community, and our cultural roots.
An Immersive Learning Journey
We invite you to participate in a three-month immersive learning experience from May to July 2025, alongside 55 other passionate individuals from over 30 countries around the world. This fellowship is designed to bring together diverse perspectives and voices united in a common goal: to explore and redefine our relationship with the natural world and one another.
The Nature Cultural Fellowship fosters a collaborative environment where participants dive deep into their cultural heritage, artistic expression, and community engagement. Through this fellowship, attendees will have the opportunity to create shared experiences that can lead to lasting change.
Project Implementation Support
Following the immersive experience in May through July, 40 selected Fellows will receive financial support between August and November 2025 to implement community-based projects. These projects will creatively blend art, ancestral knowledge, intergenerational exchange, and bold imagination to address local ecological challenges. The financial backing ensures that ideas can flourish beyond the fellowship, transforming insights into tangible impacts within communities.
Engaging in Meaningful Practices
During this fellowship, participants will engage in a variety of enriching practices, including:
- Storytelling: Sharing narratives that honor ancestral wisdom and illuminate personal experiences, helping to bridge gaps between generations and cultures.
- Embodiment Practices: Engaging in physical and spiritual exercises that enhance awareness of oneself within nature, fostering a deep sense of interconnectedness.
- Values-Based Reflection: Reflecting on personal and collective values that influence our relationship with the earth, enabling participants to explore the underlying beliefs driving our actions.
- Dialogue: Engaging in meaningful discussions that confront the cultural and systemic drivers of ecological crises, emphasizing the necessity of healing the rift between humanity and the natural world.
The focus of this fellowship is not just on learning but also on co-creating art-based projects that are deeply rooted within communities. Throughout the program, fellows will delve into profound questions surrounding identity, place, grief, transformation, reciprocity with human and more-than-human beings, and the relationships that span multiple generations. This journey of exploration aims to inspire and empower participants to take bold actions that can reshape their communities.
