Job Description

Background:

UN Women is dedicated to the advancement of gender equality and the empowerment of women, with a mission rooted in the principles of the United Nations Charter. Its efforts focus on eliminating discrimination against women and girls, enhancing women’s empowerment, and fostering an equitable environment where gender equality prevails in development, human rights, humanitarian work, and peace and security.

As part of its broader commitment, the Unstereotype Alliance has emerged as a transformative force in the advertising landscape, leveraging the industry as a vehicle for social change. This initiative aims to dismantle harmful stereotypes present in media and advertising, advocating for the representation of diverse identities—encompassing race, class, age, ability, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, language, and education—to help fashion an equitable world. The Alliance unites a global coalition of corporate leaders intent on driving the agenda of gender equality and eradicating bias in advertising.

To bring about meaningful change, the Unstereotype Alliance has developed its National Expansion Programme (NEP), which enables the mission to resonate at local and national levels. In alignment with this goal, the UA Secretariat is seeking to recruit a Junior Project Coordination Consultant who will play a pivotal role in supporting the strategic and operational development of this critical workstream.

Position Overview:

The Junior Project Coordination Consultant will report directly to the Head of the Unstereotype Alliance Secretariat (HUAS) and will assist the NEP Specialist in coordinating and managing the NEP. This role is essential for maintaining the ongoing efforts and momentum of the twelve established National Chapters (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, Turkey, UAE, and UK) while preparing for the launch of two new National Chapters (China and Indonesia) projected for mid-2026. The consultant will provide comprehensive support in various domains, including strategy, operations, administration, finance, and communications, catering to existing and prospective National Chapters as well as UN Women Country Office colleagues.

The responsibilities extend to overseeing the Due Diligence process for current and prospective global members, assisting with significant events (such as the Cannes Lions Festival and UN General Assembly), coordinating communications, and maintaining essential digital platforms for member engagement.

Description of Responsibilities / Scope of Work

    • Establish communication channels with NEP Focal Points through bilateral meetings and team discussions to promote learning and capacity building.
    • Provide consistent support for NEP Focal Points, assisting them in the development of strategic plans to ensure chapter sustainability and engagement.
    • Oversee and coordinate local activations, including launches, anniversaries, and participation in local industry awards.

    Launching New National Chapters:

      • Conduct research and compile resources to evaluate the readiness of prospective National Chapters.
      • Assist with preparatory activities for new Chapters, ensuring that national focal points are informed about membership recruitment processes, Due Diligence requirements, and other pertinent UA materials.

      Global Coordination with UA Secretariat:

        • Collaborate with NEP Focal Points and UA Secretariat colleagues to provide consistent updates on national chapter activities for various platforms including newsletters and All-Member Calls.
        • Prepare briefing notes and interventions for major events (Cannes Lions, CSW, UNGA, Global Member Summit, etc.).
        • Engage National Chapter Focal Points for contributions to the Global Research Forum under the guidance of the Global Member Engagement Consultant.
        • Collect impact data from National Chapters for tracking and reporting, contributing to the UA annual report.

        Operational and Administrative Support:

          • Collaborate with the PSP Due Diligence Help Desk to facilitate Due Diligence assessments and apply engagement strategies effectively.
          • Assist with analyzing incoming member requests to assess suitability for partnerships and perform initial Due Diligence checks as needed.
          • Provide operational support to ensure compliance with Due Diligence and broader administrative processes.

          Support High-Level Events:

            • Assist in organizing logistical frameworks for significant UA events and foster outreach efforts to engage stakeholders effectively.
            • Help develop and maintain information products like NEP case studies and informational notes to highlight the accomplishments of the Unstereotype Alliance.

            Key Performance Indicators

            • Timely and quality support to program teams aligned with the global and National Chapter work plans.
            • Efficient systems for tracking and monitoring chapter engagement and contributions.
            • Accurate and timely submission of reports and materials, including those related to training workshops and events.
