Vacancy Type: Trainee
Duration of the Contract: 6 months

Organizational Unit: Multilateral Diplomacy Programme Unit (MDPU)

Overview

The Multilateral Diplomacy Programme Unit (MDPU) at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) maintains a dynamic traineeship program designed for students and recent graduates who seek to gain professional experience within a multicultural setting while enhancing their understanding of the United Nations (UN) system.

MDPU plays a crucial role in designing and delivering essential diplomacy training programs, including Core Diplomacy Training (CDT), which encompasses orientation briefings and intensive skills development workshops. These initiatives aim to equip approximately 2,500 diplomats annually at the United Nations Headquarters, as well as at other significant venues worldwide.

In addition to the CDT, MDPU is committed to developing and implementing training activities that extend to country and regional levels. This is accomplished through close partnerships with governments, academic institutions, and selected international organizations. The Unit also offers e-Learning courses, special projects, advisory services for curriculum development in diplomatic academies, and the creation of various training tools and publications.

We invite qualified candidates to apply for a six-month placement at the UNITAR headquarters in Geneva. While the position is unpaid, a monthly lump sum of 900 CHF will be provided to help cover transportation and miscellaneous costs.
