Background:
At the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), we operate under the guiding principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). We recognize the value of diverse backgrounds and perspectives as essential components of our mission to promote sustainable development and social justice globally. By adopting a “leave no one behind” approach, we aim to enhance representation among underserved populations. We particularly encourage individuals who identify with marginalized or excluded communities to apply for this internship.
UNDP maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding sexual exploitation and abuse, harassment of any kind, and discrimination. As part of our hiring process, we conduct thorough reference and background checks on all selected candidates.
As the global sustainable development organization of the United Nations, UNDP is dedicated to ending poverty and building inclusive democratic governance and the rule of law worldwide. We operate across 170 countries and employ a workforce of 17,000 committed staff members.
In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, harnessing technology is paramount. The digital revolution presents both opportunities and challenges for development, fundamentally reshaping the context in which we operate. Since the launch of our first Digital Strategy in 2019, UNDP has embarked on an ambitious journey to unlock digital technology’s full potential for sustainable development. We are currently transitioning into the next phase of our digital transformation as outlined in the UNDP Digital Strategy 2022-2025, which envisions digital technology as a force for empowerment—both for people and the planet.
The Chief Digital Office (CDO) at UNDP leads these efforts, focusing on embedding digital technology within development projects, supporting governments in building inclusive digital ecosystems, and transforming our organization internally to meet these goals.
The internship is flexible with respect to start dates based on the needs of the selected candidates, and applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until August 31, 2025. Successful applicants may receive notification any time between March 1 and the end of 2025.
