UNWTO is currently looking for Tourism Statistics Expert/Tourism Satellite Account Compiler to be

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) provides support to Member States to assist them in their
efforts to develop and promote sustainable tourism as an engine for socio-economic growth and inclusive development leaving no one behind.

To guide Member States in developing a consistent and useful set of basic economic statistical data and
indicators, UNWTO has developed over the past years, and in cooperation with the international
community the two existing United Nations international measurement standards in the area of tourism:

  1. International Recommendations for Tourism Statistics 2008 (IRTS 2008);
  2. Tourism Satellite Account: Recommended Methodological Framework 2008 (TSA: RMF 2008).

    advocacy tool for National Tourism Administrations (NTAs) to support the cause of tourism.

    Accounts in countries, including the following duties, among others:

    selection of data sources and formulate a work plan for the implementation of the TSA project;
  4. Raises awareness on the UN statistical standard: Tourism Satellite Account: Recommended
    Methodological Framework 2008;
  5. Reviews the System of Tourism Statistics, including all tourism related data sources and all TSA
    tables already compiled, verifies data used and processed, and provides recommendations to
    improve the System of Tourism Statistics;
  6. Supports the institutional context and strengthens the statistical capacity to develop tourism
    statistics through training programmes for the various government stakeholders (such as Ministry
    of Tourism, National Tourism Statistics, Immigration, Central Bank);
  7. Conducts national and regional Statistics and TSA workshops for government officials and publicprivate-sector stakeholders;
  8. Engages and collaborates with relevant stakeholders to identify data needs, implement data
    collection programs and ensure data quality;
  9. Guides and supports the compilation of a (experimental) Tourism Satellite Account in the
    medium/long term;
  10. Prepares reports, presentations and other materials to communicate insights and findings to
    stakeholders, such as government agencies, tourism boards, and industry organizations;
