Rhodes University has a Vacant Post for Lecturer in English
The Rhodes University Institute for the Study of the Englishes of Africa invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team.

Location: Makhanda, Eastern Cape
Main Objectives
All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research), and engaging in community engagement, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and faculties. Academics are also expected to assume
administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty, and/or University levels.
The Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Education or equivalent, preferably specializing in English Language Teaching.
- A relevant PhD or significant progress towards a relevant PhD would be an advantage.
- At least three years’ Senior and FET Phase Teaching or Teacher Education experience.
- Ability to lecture in English Language Teaching and support in-service English teachers through lesson observations and workshops.
- Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal).
- Ability to lecture on broader educational topics would be an advantage.
- Ability to speak a South African language in addition to English.

Remuneration per annum (Grade L):
Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R600 144.00
Cost to Company per annum (Approximately): R782 349.40
