The role of the Research and Development (R&D) Engineer is to create and refine new or current trackless mobile equipment and technologies through a process of researching, designing, experimenting and testing.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Generate new and update existing engineering drawings in the form of free hand sketches, hand drawn and CAD system models.
- Check and approve drawings generated or changed by others in the department.
- Complete the documentation and maintain the configuration control of documents and drawings as prescribed in the company standards.
- Be familiar with national and international standards where they affect the company’s products.
- Be familiar with the company’s business systems as they affect engineering matters.
- Calculate cost effects of modifications and design detail changes.
- Perform engineering design calculations of systems, structures, and components.
- Investigate the causes of engineering problems and generate report.
- Use engineering techniques to find solutions and to solve engineering problems.
- Interpret client or user requirement specifications to develop engineering specifications or systems, structures, or components.
- Confirm design specifications with details to assure conformance.
- Be familiar with materials, processes, and heat treatment as they affect the company’s products.
- Liaise with production to ensure most economical methods of manufacture are built into the product at the design and detail stage.
- Plan and control the development and testing of engineering systems, structures, and components.
- Analyze and interpret engineering test data.
- Structure Engineering BOMs and manufacturing BOMs on Windchill.
- Plan and control engineering projects.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective action for reported quality defects.
Competences, skills and experience
- Turn a design idea into an accurate picture i.e. diagram for a machine.
- PTC Creo and Windchill advantageous.
- Syspro advantageous.
- Microsoft Visio advantageous.
- Highly proficient level computer skills including Ms Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Programming and changing of FW Murphy controller and system advantageous.
- J1939 can bus protocol.
- The ability to follow directions while paying a close attention to details.
- Able to maintain many projects at once.
- Be a strong communicator (written, spoken, and visual).

- Able to work independently and must be people and team oriented.

Educational Qualifications:
- BSC/B Eng Mechanical/B Tech Mechanical with strong electrical background 3 to 5 years experience
