PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Electronic Technician Intern will be responsible to assist in installing and maintaining the electronic systems, PLC’s, SCADA, AC/DC drives and Plant Instrumentation. The Intern will also provide assistance in repairs and modifications on plant equipment while delivering excellent technical service to maintain plant machine availability, thus contributing to set production targets. Assist in scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of machinery.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- General assistance to the electrician including work on installations, inspections, diagnosing faults, testing, repair and maintenance of electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures.
- Assist in general electronic work and preparation
- Assist with storage, lifting, fetching supplies, unload and check deliveries
- Undertake tasks to assist in the electronic repairs
- Provide assistance in identifying hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair to ensure compliance with agreed codes, law, working practices and health and safety
- Liaise with Line Manager and other employees on site and undertake tasks as assigned in accordance with contract/agreed requirements and within the agreed timeframe
- Proactive and use own initiative within the agreed scope of work responsibilities
- Ensure compliance to agreed codes, legislation and procedures including health and safety
- Maintain accurate worksheets and records/documentation associated with own work
- Immediately report to the Line manager any problems/failures that may negatively impact the organization and customers or that may affect health and safety
QUALIFICATIONs
- S4 / National Diploma in Electronic Engineering / Process Instrumentation in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Trade test will be advantageous.
POST REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of basic electronic circuits.
- Knowledge of plant instrumentation.
- Ability to read blueprints drawings.
- Knowledge of electrical systems and wiring.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Knowledge to use test meters and other diagnostic equipment.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers
- Knowledge of Scada systems / HMI
