Graduate Engineer vacancies available at Fraser Alexander

An exciting opportunity exists to provide technical support primarily to the Fraser Alexander Tailings operations with the core function being to monitor and manage technical risk.

Location: North West


Operational and Technical

  • Provide mentoring, guidance and support to Tailings operations
  • Monitor and report on technical risks by means of ongoing technical audits
  • Facilitate risk assessments on all managed facilities

  • Develop and agree on risk mitigation measures
  • Ensure compliance with the facility management standards and protocols
  • Provide assurance that data submissions are accurate

  • Undertake technical assessments of Tailings operations including stability assessments, life assessments water balances, etc
  • Prepare technical audit reports
  • Support operational and technical administrative tasks, such as special projects as and when needed


  • Ensure continuous improvement to optimise the effective functioning of the technical risk unit
  • Work closely with Operations on contracts to ensure that appropriate estimations have been made and accurate costings are submitted for project deliverables and performance in terms of technical input
  • Deliver on the value proposition to Fraser Alexander Operations as per agreed scope of work

SHEQ Management

  • Function within Fraser Alexander and client SHEQ standards and procedures
  • Suggest improvements and corrective actions where appropriate


  • BTech or BSc:  Engineering / Civil Geotechnical :  Civil / Technical (essential / minimum)
  • MRD 101 or equivalent Tailings Management Course (essential / minimum)
  • Candidate Engineer with ECSA (recommended / desirable)


  • Minimum two years’ applicable experience in tailing operational or technical
  • Knowledge and understanding of the legislation, standards and bylaws applicable to the mining environment, to tailings and water storage facilities
