JOBS OVERVIEW

The Office of the Chief Justice invites suitably qualified applicants to submit applications for the vacancy: ADMINISTRATIVE CLERK (LEGAL) REF NO: 2024/10/OCJ.

Closing date: 02 February 2024

SALARY : R202 233 – R235 611 per annum (Level 05). The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement.

CENTRE : Provincial Service Centre: Gauteng

ABOUT OFFICE OF THE CHIEF JUSTICE

The Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ) is the highest judicial office in South Africa, responsible for the administration of the judiciary and ensuring the independence and impartiality of the courts.

The OCJ oversees the functioning of all Superior courts, including the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court of Appeal, and High Courts.

Its mandate entails providing support to the Judiciary to ensure effective and efficient court administration services.

The establishment of the Office of the Chief Justice provides a platform for the implementation of initiatives that are designed to enhance the effective functioning of the courts.

REQUIREMENTS

Matric Certificate or equivalent qualification. An LLB Degree or an equivalent qualification will serve as an added advantage. Zero (0) – two (2) years’ experience will serve as an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies: Knowledge of Public Services Legislation, Prescripts and Regulations. Research skills. Communication skills (verbal and written). Minute taking skills.

Decision making and time management skills. Good reporting skills. Creative and analytical thinking skills. Computer literacy. Financial, asset and supply chain management, understanding of facilities and security management, leadership capabilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct Legal Research for the Regional Court President/Chief Magistrate. Provide Administrative functions to the Regional Court President/Chief Magistrate. Compilation of statistics. Case Flow management. Assisting Regional Court Registrar.

Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications and other related documents on or before the day of the interview following communication from Human Resources.

Failure by the applicant to fully complete, sign and initial the application form will lead to disqualification of the application during the selection process. Applications on the old Z83 will unfortunately not be considered.

Should you be in a possession of foreign qualification, it must be accompanied by an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA).
