South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) invites suitably qualified candidates to submit applications for the 2024 ICT Internship Programme.
Location: Pretoria, South Africa
Closing date: 16 January 2024
DURATION: 12 MONTHS
The programme provides opportunities to unemployed graduates to gain meaningful experience that will complement their studies and assists their gaining access to the labour market.
The South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) was established in April 1998 with a clear mandate of ensuring safety of life and property at sea, the prevention and combating of pollution to the environment from ships and the promotion of South Africa’s maritime interests.
SAMSA’s responsibilities include the administration of Merchant Shipping Regulations (National Small Vessel Safety), which extends to safe boating in inland waterways accessible to the public; and implementing and executing the long-range identification and tracking (LRIT) of vessels along the South African coastline, with a view to securing these waters in light of the threat of pirate attacks, particularly along the East Coast.
The mission of the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) is to promote South Africa’s maritime interests, and development and position the country as an international Maritime Centre, while ensuring maritime safety, health and environmental protection.
THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS ARE REQUIRED
|Matric National Diploma/ Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology with focus on communication networks, and /or security
|Head Office, Pretoria
To qualify for the internship programme, you must (be):
- An unemployed graduate, aged between 20 to 35 years old
- Have completed a Degree or a National Diploma in ICT (NQF level 6)
- A South African citizen
- Not have participated previously in an internship programme.
- People living with a disability are encouraged to apply.
