N3 Toll Concession (N3TC) Bursary Programme 2024 for young South African learners

N3 Toll Concession (RF) Proprietary Limited (N3TC) is inviting South African students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2024 academic year.

In 1999, N3 Toll Concession (RF) Proprietary Limited (N3TC) entered into a 30-year toll road concession contract with the South African National Roads Agency (SOC) Limited (SANRAL) to manage a 415 km section of the N3 transport corridor known as the N3 Toll Route.

The N3 Toll Route starts at the Cedara interchange in KwaZulu-Natal and ends at the Heidelberg South interchange in Gauteng.

The N3 Toll Route concession agreement is considered to be one of South Africa’s most successful public-private sector partnerships. In terms of this partnership, N3TC is responsible to design, construct, finance, operate and maintain this section of N3 Route until the concession contract ends in 2029


Bursaries will be awarded to students from specific municipalities in Mpumalanga, Free State, and KwaZulu-Natal provinces (the N3 Toll Route corridor), for studies within these fields:

  • Accounting
  • Civil Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Marketing
  • Mathematics and Science Teaching


Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • 1.You must be a South African citizen
  • 2.You must be from one of these municipal areas, along the N3 Toll Route corridor
    • Free State: Mafube, Maluti-a-Phofung, Phumelela
    • KwaZulu-Natal: Alfred Duma, INkosi Langalibalele, Mpofana, Okhahlamba, uMngeni
    • Mpumalanga: Dipaleseng
  • 3.You must have completed Matric
  • 4.You must be studying towards an undergraduate Degree qualifications, within one of the fields of study listed above
  • 5.You must be entering your 3rd, 4th or Honours year of study in 2024
  • 6.You must be studying at a recognized and accredited university in South Africa

  • 7.You must have a strong academic record
  • 8.You must maintain a minimum overall average of 60%
  • 9.You must have proven financial need
  • 10.You must NOT have any outstanding student debt (all previous fees must be paid up)


For application and submission, applicants must submit clear documents below:

• ID document (certified copy)
• Matric certificate (certified copy)
• Full academic record/ transcript (on institution letterhead)
• Proof of university registration (on institution letterhead)
• Proof of residence
• Parents or guardians’ proof of household income
