BURSARY OVERVIEW
The Southern African Transport Conference (SATC) invites South African or SADC students to apply for the 2024 Bursary Programme.
Closing date: 08 December 2023
SATC will offer a prestigious bursary each year at R170 000 tax free for a fulltime M or D student (South African and SADC) in transportation working on their research component at a South African university.
ABOUT SATC
The Southern African Transport Conference is the longest running transport conference in the region. It attracts 700 delegates each year.
Everyone in any way connected with transport is invited but it will be of particular interest to funding agencies, municipal, provincial and national government, parastatals, policy- and decision-makers, academics, researchers, students and professionals active in the planning, construction, manufacturing, logistics, operation and safety of passenger and freight transport, road traffic, rail, maritime and aviation.
Objectives
- To provide a platform for national and international dialogue on transport as a socio-economic development priority
- To serve as a forum for discussion and information exchange on the implementation of transport policy, strategy and technology applications for all aspects and modes of transportation
- To foster better cooperation between and engagement of all public and private sector stakeholders so that solutions can be sought and action plans formulated
ABOUT THE SATC BURSARY
SATC offers two prestigious bursaries per year for fulltime M or D students in transportation working on their research component. The funds will be disbursed to the university where the student is resident.
The student must have been admitted for the programme. The SATC bursary is a prestigious one and will not be allocated to students who also receive other bursaries.
The bursaries may be renewable depending on progress. If the student is unsuccessful and does not complete the study, the bursary amount has to be repaid, with interest.
The bursaries are open to Southern African students. The student will sign a contract stipulating the above conditions. SATC has the right to interact on the student’s research programme.
BURSARY VALUE AND CONDITIONS
SATC will offer a prestigious bursary each year at R170 000 tax free for a fulltime M or D student (South African and SADC) in transportation working on their research component at a South African university.
The funds will be disbursed to the university where the student is resident. The student must have been admitted for the programme. (Applications to be received by 8 Dec 2023)
The bursary may be renewable depending on progress. The amount will be paid in 2 instalments – 50% in February and 50% in July.
If the student is unsuccessful and does not complete the study, the bursary amount will be repaid, with interest. The bursary is open to South African and SADC citizens.
The student will sign a contract stipulating the above conditions. The SATC has the right to interact on the student’s research programme.
Holding other sponsorships or bursaries may disqualify a student.
